The Impacts of EORE provided in the Amhara Region<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

ERW (Explosive remnants of war) remain a threat, posing a lasting hazard to civilians across the Amhara region, even after hostilities cease. Children, in particular, have a heightened vulnerability to unexploded ordnance due to low-risk awareness and high inquisitiveness. Due to this reason, parents always live in fear.
EORE (Explosive Ordinance Risk Education) has had far-reaching implications in communities like the ones in the Amhara region that are proximate to explosive remnants of war (ERW). The education has changed three major spheres.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
  • Physical Security Sphere (lifesaving, humanitarian mine action which prevents or precludes people losing their lives or being maimed by explosive remnants of war). It has also an indirect impact on economic and spheres.<\/li>
  • Economic Sphere (freeing up of land holds transformative power to increase economic opportunities for people.<\/li>
  • Social Sphere (access to education and health, as well as social cohesion).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Previous Activities<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    • To ensure the aforementioned changes in sphere, EORE was provided in the region by EPSS through a project in the past two years. The project was implemented in North and South Wollo, North and South Gondar, Central Gondar Zone, Wag Hamra, North Shoa and in the Oromia Special zone with the support from EHF, the government of Japan and HI.\u00a0<\/li>
    • The education in the project was provided for adults, youngsters, IDP, returnees and other members of the community. Thus, face-to\u2013face education was given to 51,356 beneficiaries. In addition, risk education was provided for 580 community volunteer focal points from different parts of the society. Furthermore, leaflets were distributed and key messages were sent to the community to be cautious. Here, working with community was ensured through Radio as well.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
