This is a story that happened in the Amhara region Oromia special zone where the Ethio-Professionals’ Security Solutions (EPSS) team conducted EORE for the community. The story is as follows. One day, the mobile phone of one trainer rang when somebody gave a call. The trainer answered the call by asking who the caller was. The person who called also asked to confirm if the trainer was an EPSS EORE trainer and explained himself by stating that he was one of her beneficiaries who received EORE. The trainer asked how she could help him. The caller said that he needed to meet her and tell a story. Accordingly, the person and the trainer made an appointment to meet. Based on that, they met the next day at the appointment place and the individual told the following story to the trainer. The individual started telling the story by introducing himself. He stated that his name was Usman Yusuf. He also mentioned that he lived in the Amhara region Oromia special zone, Kebele 04 of Kemissie town whose special name was Kept Tera. Mr. Umer Yusuf resumed his story that after some days of receiving the risk education of the week, when he was crossing the road on the way to his house, he saw that his two children one aged 13 and the second 9 were playing with ERW sitting around the road. His children were looking for a stone aimed to hit the ERW and see what would happen. Fortunately, when their father, Mr. Usman got closer to the place where they were playing, he realized and memorized that the ERW in the hand of his children was the one that he saw on the poster when he was receiving the risk education (EORE). After that, he was shocked and immediately told his children to throw away the stone and put the ERW aside carefully, and then he reported the case to security authorities. Accordingly, experts came and took the ERW and told Mr. Usman that he was lucky since his children were rescued from a very dangerous situation and even congratulated him for rescuing his children. Had the ERW not been put away from their hand, it would have lost the life of the children which would be a catastrophic event for the family. Thus, the reason why Mr., Usman wanted to see and meet the trainer was to express his heartfelt gratitude to the EPSS team for the awareness provision. The gratitude also went to EHF, UNOPs, and UNMAs who financed and supported EPSS in delivering risk education.
